FIGHTING CHILD TRAFFICKING
BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITIES
What Is Child Trafficking and Exploitation?
Child trafficking is the abuse of vulnerable minors for profit—through recruiting, transporting, or harbouring them by deception, coercion, or abuse of power. It results in sexual exploitation, forced labour, illegal adoption, drug running, and online abuse. Traffickers lure children with false promises of safety, education, work, or love. Any exploitation of a child under 18 counts as trafficking, even without coercion or border crossing. Click below to learn more and help stop this.
Children go missing every day in South Africa
According to the most recent figures released by the South African Police Service (SAPS) Missing Persons Bureau in 2013, a child goes missing every 5 hours.
No updated statistics have been released by SAPS since then.
Missing Children South Africa reports that 77% of missing children are eventually found.
But that still means 23% of children are never found, become victims of trafficking, or are tragically found deceased.
On top of this, children remain some of the most vulnerable victims of gender-based violence in our country. The reality is both shocking and undeniable—and we can no longer stand by and do nothing.
It could happen to your child.
